Oldham Krishna Shakha

Shakha is a weekly group where youth and adults come together to participate in activities that nurture the mind, body, and spirit. These include yoga, games, discussions, and learning centered on Hindu culture and philosophy.

Through these activities, participants develop important life skills such as leadership, communication, teamwork, and public speaking, while also learning the values of respecting the environment, serving the community, and maintaining cultural identity in a multicultural world.

Regular Activities

📖 Sarasvati Puja for Children (Feb/March)
A special puja for children to pray to Maa Sarasvati, Goddess of Knowledge. School books and instruments are blessed, guiding children in their educational journey.

🎨 Summer Playscheme (July/August)
A week-long programme filled with games, arts & crafts, and a fun day out. Designed for children aged 5–11 years, it helps them make friends, stay active, and learn new skills.

🚴 Cycle4Sewa (September)
Since 2014, families across the North West have taken part in Cycle4Sewa, a fundraising event supporting Sewa projects worldwide. Participants cycle around a track together, promoting health, family bonding, and service. Similar events also run in the Midlands and South of England.
