Our aim is To promote self confidence in women and to assist and encourage them to take active role in community work to overcome social isolation. Saheli Women’s Group meet once every last Wednesday of the month at 11am to 1pm. However the group’s activities are ongoing on a weekly basis. Our programme schedule for the whole year is drafted at the beginning of the year in January, taking into consideration what all the ladies would like to do. Some of our regular activities include: Visits to local celebrations, religious and leisure places. Regular sessions are organised on healthy cooking, health issues, self-care, physical activities such as yoga, walks and cycling to name a few. We also organise and support fundraising events within the Indian Association Community Centre. We work along side and invite groups from other communities and provide information on cultural and religions events. Saheli Women's Group from the Indian Association Oldham with support from Action Together Oldham provided food provisions for the needy. As the current pandemic and the lockdown has caused huge distress and lack of support to those who are in desperate need, the Saheli group took initiative to help. They bought non perishable food items and presented to Oldham Jigsaw previously known as Threshold for distribution to those who desperately need them.
