The club is one of several valuable projects run by the Association to provide services for the elder generation of the Indian Community, established in September 1994. We meet every Thursday from 11.00am till 2.00pm members participate in activities such as: enjoying a vegetarian lunch; socialising amongst their own age group; sharing both the good and bad experiences in their daily lives and; most importantly – they laugh together and support each other. We consult our members to provide support in accordance with their needs and interests. As a result of such consultation, we organise guest speakers for subjects of concern, such as Health, welfare benefits; Will making; sessions on Art & Crafts; and also Yoga and gentle exercises, sessions on Meditation, Brain stimulating exercises and Massages. We network with other luncheon clubs by inviting them to ours, and in return, visiting them in order to get to know more communities who live within the area. We appreciate the financial support of the Oldham Council, which has had a vital effect on our member’s health and wellbeing.
